Primárna cieľová skupina sa skladá z firiem a inštitúcií, ktoré zavádzajú nejaký druh inovácií a/alebo majú inovačný potenciál. Sekundárnu cieľovú skupinu tvoria tréneri vzdelávania, veľké firmy s rozsiahlou sieťou dodávateľov a poskytovateľov z primárnej cieľovej skupiny, ktorí by chceli zladiť svoje systémy výskumu a vývoja a inovácií.
Inovácia je jedným z hlavných kľúčov k úspechu organizácie. Súvisí to s realizáciou úplne nového alebo výrazne zlepšeného výrobku, služby, marketingovými alebo organizačnými metódami. Norma CEN/TS 16555-1: 2013 slúži na udržanie konkurencieschopnosti a napomáha adaptácii na výzvy trhu. Norma slúži ako návod na zavedenie, vývoj a údržbu systému riadenia inovácií. Realizáciou normy môžu spoločnosti posilniť svoju inovačnú kapacitu, a tým zabezpečiť väčšiu úspešnosť svojich produktov a služieb.
