Grupul țintă principal este format din companii și instituții care au întreprins o formă sau alta de inovare și/sau au un potențial de inovare. Grupul țintă secundar este format din formatori, companii mari cu rețele extinse de furnizori, respectiv furnizorii din grupul țintă principal, care ar dori să armonizeze sistemele lor de R&D&I.
Inovarea este una dintre principale chei ale succesului unei organizații. Aceasta înseamnă realizarea unui produs complet nou sau îmbunătățit în mod semnificativ, o metoda de organizare nouă, un serviciu de marketing nou. Standardul CEN/TS 16555-1:2013 servește la menținerea competitivității și contribuie la adaptarea la provocările pieței. Standardul actioneaza ca un ghid pentru introducerea, dezvoltarea și menținerea sistemului de management al inovației. Prin implementarea acesteia, companiile își pot consolida capacitatea de inovare și, prin urmare, pot asigura un succes mai mare cu produsele și serviciile lor.
